About

I have worked in Real Estate administration for over twenty years. This experience has encouraged my interest in home design and consequently a career in Home Staging. The course was both extremely instructive and fun; it confirmed my passion for the industry.

Plus, I have a “passion” for design and color. Specializing in furniture placement, color coordination and accessorizing ~ I always have and always will ~ “love” the whole concept of creating a “warm and inviting” space in our own homes. Also, having taken the staging course and working for a Realtor, I have seen “first hand” how staging makes a significant difference in selling your home.

I am a member of PSNA (Professional Stagers Network Association)

Canadian Staging Professional

Staging Professional:

Staging your home to sell should be started by prioritizing the things you need to do.
Repainting is always a good idea – fresh, neutral coat of paint always makes a home look brighter & cleaner.

De-cluttering is a major step – A good idea is to rent storage spaces to put items you will not be needing. This way the items are out of the way & you can deal with them once in your new surroundings. Makes it easier all around.

Kitchens and baths should be as minimal as you can get them and as “shiny clean” as you can get them. Major renovations in these two rooms if they are complete disasters would be recommended. If they are OK, there are a lot of things which can be done to make them look “Great”.

Furniture placement is key. Making rooms look spacious (even when small) is very important. The function of each room has to be kept in mind & less is more in most cases.

Staging for Living:

Staging a home if you are continuing to live in the home is a different concept.
Colors can be your “own” – they don’t need to be neutral.

Furniture can be suited to your needs & wants, & major renovations for kitchens & baths can be to suit your lifestyle.

Also, as a Staging for Living expert we can work with your collectibles, art work, flooring etc. to make your home into a “liveable” uncluttered space & it will reflect your ideas & living style with “tons” of style & design.

Testimonials

Dear Eileen: We have put our house on the real estate market now. I would like to thank you for your time and advice on organizing and presenting our home to look its best. Your Canadian Stage Professionals Room Ready HandbookTM with your personal notes and suggestions has also been a great help to me. Good luck with your future endeavours. Sincerely,
Heidi Brussaard  ,Burlington, ON March 21, 2006

June 2006 Eileen came to our home and did a consultation. She arrived and in approximately 1 ½ hours gave us a list of “things” we should do before listing our home. De-cluttering was very important as we have a 1 ½ year old. Also, some updating such as painting the front door, painting the decks – both front and back, making sure roof and basement, furnace, A/C all in good condition and excellent working order. Bathrooms and kitchen shiny clean was also on the list and another essential when showing and selling your home. We followed her list explicitly and we had an offer on our home in one day. The deal was finalized within 2 weeks of listing and our home sold for just under our list price. It made our life selling our home with a toddler almost stress free and we would recommend staging as an essential tool in selling your home, and Eileen’s recommendations were right on target. Thank you for your advice on a property I recently listed. The home was occupied by an older couple who were not able to de-clutter and "Wow" the home. With your consultation on what would be best to do with this home, we managed to de-clutter, tidy and modernize enough without stressing the home owners. The home listed and sold two weeks after the staging process which was perfect under the circumstances. Sincerely, Helen Marshall, Sales Representative Coldwell Banker Burnhill Realty Brokerage 3235 Fairview Street Burlington, ON L7N 3L1
